Infrared Sauna Therapy
Detoxifies, burns calories, increases circulation, improves skin tone, boosts the immune system, boosts the lymphatic system, relieves joint and muscle pain, rejuvenates, and relaxes…
Infrared saunas have been around for over 20 years and are used and loved by Doctors, health professionals, athletes and celebrities around the word.
Scientific studies have shown that a 30-minute session in an infrared sauna can result in the loss of toxins and stored fats in the body by up to 7 times the level of a traditional sauna, or exercise alone, can achieve.
What is the difference between an infrared Sauna and a traditional dry sauna?
When you are sitting in a traditional sauna, you are sitting in a hot room, 180-220 degrees Fahrenheit, which can be an uncomfortable heat. In an infrared sauna only 20% of the heat goes to heat the air and the other 80% directly heats your body. The result is deeper tissue penetration. This warming effect on your body stimulates your cardiovascular system, your immune system and your lymphatic system. Your bodies response to that is sweat. In the infrared sauna, your body receives all of the healthy benefits but avoids the harmful and extremely hot air of a traditional sauna.
As your body heats up you will begin to sweat. Studies show that sweat from traditional sauna contain about 3-5% toxins, whereas sweat form your infrared sauna contains about 17-20% toxins.
Infrared sauna is completely safe and produces the same far infrared heat produced by the sun; far-infrared heat is required for all living things for optimum health. The radiant heat from infrared sauna surrounds you and penetrates deeply into your joints, muscles and tissues, speeding oxygen flow and increasing circulation. This helps to remove impurities from your cells, specifically the cells inside our fat where our body’s stores waste and harmful toxins such as cholesterol. Infrared rays are so safe they are used in incubators for premature babies.
BENEFITS OF INFRARED SAUNA
Sweating is the bodies safe and natural way to heal and stay healthy. One of the biggest infrared sauna health benefits is its ability to increase your blood circulation and stimulate the sweat gland, releasing built up toxins in the body. Infrared sauna sweating will detoxify your body on a deep cellular level as it rids itself of accumulated, highly toxic metals such as lead, mercury, nickel, and cadmium, as well as alcohol, nicotine, sulphuric acid, and other organic and inorganic compounds.
The profuse sweating achieved during your infrared sauna session carries off deeply imbedded impurities and dead skin cells. This leaves the skin glowing and immaculately clean. Increased circulation draws your skins own natural nutrients to the surface, and the infrared stimulates collagen production. As a result, you will see improved tone, elasticity, texture and fresh colour.
Increased circulation has also been shown to relieve acne, eczema, psoriasis, burns, lesions and cuts.
Studies have shown that an infrared sauna session can burn up to 600-1000 calories while you relax. As you relax in the gentle infrared heat, your body is working hard producing sweat, pumping blood and burning calories. As your body increases sweat production to cool itself, your heart works harder to pump blood at a greater rate to improve circulation. This increase in your metabolism will burn calories. Recent studies have also shown using an infrared sauna 3 times a week over a four-month period can eliminate an average of 4% body fat.
Since the heat of an infrared sauna warms the skin so deeply, 3 inches deeper than a regular sauna, cellulite reduction is an added benefit. The increased heart rate and localized blood circulation works together to stop fatty deposits and fibrosis from accumulating liquids in the fat cells to reduce the appearance of fat cells.
Good circulation of the lymphatic system is crucial to health as it is responsible for ridding the body of all debris including fats, toxins, infections, bacteria and viruses. If our lymphatic system is sluggish and clogged it creates a condition of stagnation which promotes fatigue & illness, where disease becomes more likely. Infrared heat penetrates deep into the body tissue and engages the detoxification and elimination process by moving the stagnant fluid and toxins through the skin improving the lymphatic systems drainage. Signs your lymphatic system is overloaded are acne, itchy skin, lack of energy, brain fog, swollen lymph nodes, recurrent sore throats, mucus in the morning, ear popping or ringing, constipation, unable to lose weight, stiffness in the morning, bloating, arms or legs fall asleep, pain or pressure or stiffness along spine or shoulders and swelling in extremities.
Unlike traditional saunas, which operate at extremely harsh temperatures, Infrared is a gentle, soothing and therapeutic heat that promotes relaxation and improves sleep. Infrared sauna therapy helps you relax and relieves stress while receiving an invigorating deep tissue sweat, encourages your body to release serotonin and endorphins, the hormones that keep you happy, calm and healthy, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after each session.
Infrared heat penetrates tissues, joints and muscles to relieve pain stemming from overuse, strain or repetitive motion. If you suffer from muscle aches or joint pain, infrared sauna can relieve this form of inflammation by increasing circulation and relaxing your muscles. Time spent in an infrared sauna reduces or eliminates stiffness, aches and soreness that comes with aging.
An infrared sauna will raise your core body temperature, inducing an artificial fever. This enhances the immune system, combined with improved elimination of toxins and wastes via intense sweating and increases your overall health and resistance to disease.
Heating the muscles with infrared rays produces an increase in blood flow similar to that seen during exercise. Regular infrared sauna use can significantly stimulate blood flow up to twice the normal rate.
Infrared sauna induces a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowering blood pressure and helps circulation. Scientific evidence shows that using an infrared sauna several times a week lowers blood pressure.
Lyme disease is conventionally treated with an antibiotic which frequently comes with unwanted side effects such as, nausea and vomiting. However, recent research has shown that infrared sauna therapy offers a safe alternative that can even be used in conjunction with regular treatment to accelerate the healing process.
